Welcome to KYDA family! We have a total of 8 paid staff members and 12 volunteers. Here is an overview of the staff members.

KYDA permanent staff, trainers, and students

Name:  Otal, Bernard
Position: Executive Director
Duration with KYDA: One of the founder members of KYDA and the first chairperson of KYDA has witnessed all the success and the growth steps of KYDA since its informal stages in 2002 and subsequent registration in 2005.
Responsibilities: Participate in day-to-day running of the organization. Inform of giving support, supervision and mentoring the staff and volunteers so that they are best able to identify gaps for new projects. Design, implement, mentor, and evaluate of all KYDA’s programs. Key contact person to the organization (KYDA). Effectively represent the organization internationally and nationally.
Personal:
Third born in the family of 14 children 8 sisters and 6 brothers
Interests: Football, sports and touring places
Education: Holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Makerere University (MUK). Hopes to go for masters degree next year; has extra trainings in fields of project planning. Before working with KYDA volunteered with family planning association of Uganda (FPAU) but now called Reproductive Health Uganda and Uganda Youth Development Link

Name: Kiwuka, Josephine Ritah
Position: Project Officer
Duration With KYDA: Started working in 2010
Responsibilities:
In 2010 KYDA started a pilot project dealing with HIV/AIDS positives 5-19 years headed by Josephine. The main goal for this project has been to improve the quality of their lives and their families life by providing nutritional foods, and empowering the clients while reducing the stigma they are facing through psycho-social support. Rita also provides counseling and guidance, vocational skills in tailoring, crafts making and designing. The main target group when providing vocational skills training is school drop outs infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. Her main responsibility then has been designing, planning, implementation, monitoring, and education of project activities as well as preparing and submitting timely reports as per the organization and the donor requirements
Personal:
Single mother with three children
Interests: Crafts making, frying snacks
Education:
Holds a bachelors degree in guidance and counseling.

Name: Asiimwe, Dorcus
Position: Social Worker
Duration with KYDA: Since earlier 2010; came as a volunteer during the KYDA awareness campaigns for the need to test and know the status of children under the hands of caregiver, mainly grand mothers, finally retained as a social worker in August 2010
Responsibilities: Also works on the HIV/AIDS care and support project for OVCs and young HIV positive people 5-19 years. Support the planning and implementing of project activity.Coordinates all the stakeholders in terms of mobilizing and planning capacity building, sensitization meetings, workshops for local leaders, peers and other CBO’s
Interests: Caring for children, meeting friends, writing, reading, and touring
Education:
Holds a diploma in social work from Nsamizi Training Institute of Social Development. Because of her desire to further her career she is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in development studies at Makerere University Kampala (MUK)

Name: Nassolo, Jascent
Position: Program Administrative Assistant
Duration With KYDA: Also started in 2010 since KYDA started the HIV/AIDS care and support project for OVCs and young HIV positive people 5-19 years. A position she has held up to date.
Responsibilities:
She is part of the finance team at KYDA. Jascent oversees and maintain all information pursuing the organization such as handling correspondences, maintain staff records and forward letters, etc.

Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences at Makerere University Kampala (MUK)

Name: Kabuuye, Shaban K
Position:
Social Worker
Duration With KYDA:
Now for 5 years, since 2007 did his 3 month internship (field work) at KYDA in early 2007, has witnessed all the early stages of operation and growth. Has been a volunteer since, until 2010 of recent when he was put on contract with HIV/AIDS care and support project for OVCs and young HIV positive people 5-19 years confirmed as social worker. He is a flexible and hard working gentleman, whose aim is to achieve the organization’s goals and expectations
Responsibilities:
Mainly responsible for mentoring, supervising and providing support to peer educators, and volunteers. Shaban supports staff, and oversees the implementation of the child-link school clubs, and out of school sports club. He conducts sensitization about children, provides positive living strategies, and conducts group health education talks and substance abuse. Shaban plans and conducts education activities, talk shows, and group counseling sessions for children/youth about child HIV, drug abuse, children rights and impact on children, prevention, rehabilitation, withdrawal and referral issues.

Name: Migadde, Godfrey
Position:
Finance and Administration officer
Duration With KYDA:
He has been with KYDA since 2008 after he volunteered for one year with the finance department. Appointed to the position in 2009 with the advice from the first American volunteer Josh Kelley who they worked together to organize the accounting information system and chart of accounts for the organization so as to be able to comply with the donor requirements.
Responsibilities:
Mainly responsible for planning and monitoring the implementation of the project budgets. He prepares and submits timely and accurate financial reports, manages projects accounts, maintains all registers as per the organization and donor requirements. He further advises management on financial matters.
Personal:
Readily associates with people, participating in voluntary work
Interests:
Watching educative plays, and reading current affairs
Education:
Holds first a certificate and a diploma in Corporate Business Administration from Uganda Cooperate College- Kiyumba respectively; he is a man with a vast experience in finance management and accounts.

Name: Nansubuga, Amina
Position: Hair Dressing Trainer
Duration With KYDA: Appointed 2010, as hair dressing professional trainer, during the early pilot stages for the HIV/AIDS care and support project for OVCs and young HIV positive people 15-19 years. She mainly concentrates on vocational training to the youth in the age of 14-19 infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, and out of school females.
Responsibilities: Training hair dressing skills to the young positives out of school, as well as submitting timely training reports as per organization and donor requirements
Personal: Rich in communication and livelihood skills
Interests: Caring for children and young people, and drama

Name: Nabweteme, Maria Regina
Position: Tailoring trainer
Duration With KYDA:
Also appointed in 2010. As a professional Tailoring trainer a position she has also held up to date
Responsibilities:
Responsible for training tailoring and designing skills to the young positives and other vulnerable young people and giving them livelihood skills during the counseling sessions. She is also responsible for submitting time training, reports as per the organizational and donor requirements.
